Health

Info

The health gauge and monitor in Minecraft is based on a single row of 10 heart icons. Each full heart contains two halves, one hit point each (full health is 20 hit points).

Death

Mobs leaving red corpses and fire (because of daylight and player-made lightning) in multiplayer.

Death can occur when all of a player or mob`s hit points are depleted.

The /kill command will also instantly bring about death, and a parrot can be instantly killed by feeding it a cookie.

Mobs and players fall to their left side to the ground when killed, dropping any drops at the location they were when they took the fatal damage. Once their fallen body disappears, it will emit a puff of smoke, and drop experience at the location they disappeared. It is possible for the drops and the experience to appear in different places, if the dying body is in motion.

For players, a "You died!" screen (or "Game over!" in Hardcore The Hardcore mode death screen. Java Edition Only Hardcore mode is a much more difficult variant of the Survival game mode. Contents 1 Features 2 Multiplayer 3 Video 4 History 5 Issues 6 Trivia 7 minecraft mode) appears that displays the player`s score, and a death message (see below). The view of the world will be tinted red, and the camera-view will tilt as if falling over, shudder, and zoom in somewhat. In Pocket Edition, it will zoom in indefinitely. On that screen there are two options:

  • Respawn: either in the last bed the player slept in, or at their default spawn point (their first spawn point in the game), or at the spawn point set by commands.
    • In Hardcore mode, the player can only respawn in Spectator mode, and cannot continue progress because cheats are disabled.
  • Return to the title screen.

Any items and/or blocks that were in the player`s inventory are dropped from their head, and scattered around the spot where the player died (unless the gamerule keepInventory is set to true). Like any dropped item, these drops will decay once five minutes pass while that chunk is loaded.

The player will also lose any experience accumulated, reverting the level back to 0 (unless the gamerule keepInventory is set to true) and will drop experience orbs with a total value of level * 7 (with a maximum of 100) to the ground. In Pocket Edition, when a player dies, they drop only 1⃢₁₄2 of the experience.verify

Overview

The health bar is located beside the Hunger Meter, and above the Experience Meter. When a player`s Hunger Meter is at 9 (or completely full), they will slowly regain health. When health is at 4 hearts or less, the health bar will start shaking. The health bar won`t regenerate if there are 7.5 hearts or less. The speed at which the player`s health regenerates varies, depending on the Difficulty setting. When full, a player`s health bar has 10 hearts, which is equal to 20 points of health, as 1 heart counts as 2 points of health.

Death

Death screen in hardcore mode.

Death can occur when a player has lost all of their health. A screen will appear and offer the choice of either respawning (going back to the original spawn point, or the last bed they slept in) or returning to the main menu (the death screen will still be there upon re-entering the world). Hardcore Mode does not offer the option of respawning. Players can only delete the world after they have died.

Mob health

This is a table showing how much health each mob has. When their health runs out, they die and may drop items. Mobs can die from lava, fall damage, drowning, suffocation, damage from a player, or damage from other mobs. For example, a creeper may attack a skeleton if its arrow hits the creeper.
